An Update From Lordstown Motors
Hi everyone,
I hope you are staying safe and healthy.
Like the rest of the country and the world, Lordstown Motors Corporation is doing what we can to slow and prevent further spread of COVID-19. As such, most of our staff has been working from home while carrying out as much of their work as possible; essential maintenance is still happening at the plant, and our design engineers continue testing and fine-tuning the technology that will power the Lordstown Endurance electric pickup truck.
Like most companies, the pandemic has caused us to tweak our plans. However, it has also dramatically strengthened our conviction and enthusiasm to bring the Endurance to market as soon as humanly possible. Strangely, this clarity probably could not have come to us without the world actually coming to a standstill - and the modern world does not often come to a standstill.
Two big revelations:
- Our mission to electrify commercial trucks is even more important than we thought. I think everyone realizes that as tough as it is to stay home, the experience would be much worse - almost unsurvivable - if commercial trucks didn’t keep rolling. Trucks bring supplies, workers and tools to stores and to our homes.
- The air quality satellite images that are showing the results of having less tailpipe emissions are staggering. Anyone that ever doubted that our air quality could be cleaned up dramatically by eliminating tailpipe emissions should now be cheering for the advent of vehicle electrification - especially truck electrification.
We had previously announced our plans to introduce the first production-intent Endurance at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this June. As many of you know, the show has been cancelled, but I wanted to let you know that we still plan on introducing the Endurance sometime in early summer, probably via a virtual reveal from our headquarters in Lordstown. More on those plans as they solidify in the next month or so.
Thank you for your continued support, as we ‘endeavor’ to bring the Endurance to life. We look forward to introducing you to the world’s first-fully electric pickup truck this summer, and handing the keys to fleets across the country in January 2021.
